73rd Regiment E.M.M. Co. K Infantry

(03 Apr 1862 - 10 Apr 1863)

 

yrus first enrolled for the EMM (Enrolled Military Militia) on 03 Apr 1862 at the Fort at Lawrence Mill in Taney County. Often referred to as "Lawernce's Mill" it was located on Beaver Creek east of Branson. It was overrun and destroyed by the Confederates in 1863.

Cyrus enrolled and was placed into Active Service on the same day. He was placed in the 73rd Regiment E.M.M., Co. K Infantry as private. He served in Co. K for one year plus a week - until 10 Apr 1863.

Separater

Cyrus next enrolled in the E.M.M in May 1864 in Marshfield, Mo. While stationed in the area during his first tour of duty he had purchased a farm in Webster County, near Marshfield. However, it wasn't until September that he was assigned to the 74th Regiment E.M.M., Co. I Infantry. His service for this regiment was from 25 Sep 1864 to 15 Nov 1864.

Separater

His next enrollment was on 12 Nov 1864 (some overlap in the dates) in Springfield, Mo. and was placed in active duty on 13 Nov 1864. He served from 13 Nov 1864 through 20 May 1865. The War had ended about 6 weeks earlier and President Lincoln had been assassinated about 3 weeks earlier (14 Apr).
