30 Sep 1862 -- 10 Apr 1863 ---- Transfer to 73rd Regiment EMM Co. K
Cyrus first enrolled for the EMM (Enrolled Military Militia) on 03 Apr 1862 at "Flag Spring" and mustered in 6 days later on 09 Aug at Fort Lawrence's Mill in Taney County located southeast of Forsythe, Missouri on Beaver Creek and east of Branson. Later this fort was overrun and destroyed by the Confederates in 1863 and never rebuilt.
Regimental History:
Duty in District of Southwest Missouri. Expedition from Ozark, Mo., into Marion County, Arkansas, December 9-15, 1862. Operations against Marmaduke's expedition into Missouri December 31, 1862 to January 25, 1863. (1)

25 Sep 1864 -- 15 Nov 1864 ---- Enrolled in 74th Regiment EMM Co. I (26 days)
Cyrus next enrolled in the E.M.M in May 1864 in Marshfield, Mo. (He had purchased a farm in Webster County on October 13, 1863.) However, it wasn't until September, when Confederate General Price invaded Missouri, that he was assigned to the 74th Regiment E.M.M., Co. I Infantry.
Regimental History:
Duty in Southwest Missouri. While this regiment conducted two operations against Confederate General Marmaduke, these operation were before Cyrus' service.

13 Nov 1864 -- 20 May 1865 ---- Enrolled in 46th Regiment Infantry Volunteers Co. I
Cyrus enrolled on 12 Nov 1864 at Springfield, Mo. and was placed in active duty on 13 Nov 1864. He served from 13 Nov 1864 through 20 May 1865. The War had ended about 6 weeks earlier and President Lincoln had been assassinated about 3 weeks earlier (14 Apr).
Regimental History:
Duty at Springfield, Missouri, and by detachments in Douglas County, Taney County, at Stockton, Hartville, Neosho, Cassville, Newtonia and buffalo till March, 1865, and in District of Middle Tennessee till May, 1865. Surrender of Paris, Missouri, October 15, 1864 (Co. "H"). Operations about Bennett's Bayou and Tolbert's Mill, Arkansas, February 16-18, 1865 (Co. "H"). Musterd out March 6 to May 24, 1865. Regiment lost during service 8 Enlisted men killed and mortally wounded and 18 Enlisted men by disease. Total 26. (1)
